Founded in 2012, the Toronto Island Pilots Association (TIPA) was created to bring together general aviation (GA) stakeholders in a unified voice at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. In 2015, this collective effort contributed to a City of Toronto report outlining a vision for the future of GA at CYTZ.
As the only downtown airport in Canada that serves general aviation, Billy Bishop plays a vital role in keeping the skies accessible, connected, and community-driven. TIPA continues to advance this shared vision by working collaboratively with pilots, partners, and the public to ensure general aviation thrives—through advocacy, education, and ongoing engagement.

Promoting the purposeful role of GA and its continued impact on local economies, public safety, and community connectivity is vital. GA pilots fly with purpose, providing essential services and economic contributions extending beyond recreation.
